Pako wants ‘change in dynamics’

Pako Ayestaran says he is seeking a “change in dynamics” ahead of his Valencia debut as his side travel to Las Palmas on Saturday.

Pako has taken charge of Valencia until the end of the season following Gary Neville’s dismissal earlier in the week, and he believes his new side are making all the right noises in training to suggest a turnaround is not far away.

“We’ve only been thinking about football,” Rafa Benitez’s former assistant told Los Che’s official website.

“We’ve spent days trying to change dynamics and although we always want more, we’re on the right path.

“Fundamentally, we must play in areas of the pitch where we feel safe, without risk of losing balls near our goal and with the freedom of playing in our opponents’ half.

“[On Las Palmas’ revival], it’s not only due to their run of results, but their performances.

“Las Palmas have found the way forward, they know how to play, everyone knows their role, they’re able to have long spells of possession and they’re proactive. It’s nice to see them play.

“There are no easy games. To have chances of winning, we have to do many things.

“It’ll be a tight game, but hopefully the imbalance falls on our side.”
