Arbeloa: I don’t watch Spain

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa claims “I don’t watch Spain matches” as he remains “hurt” over his 2014 World Cup snub.

Arbeloa did not form part of Spain’s World Cup defence in Brazil, despite having helped La Roja lift the trophy four years prior and figured in Madrid’s 2014 Copa del Rey and Champions League triumphs, and he admits the national team no longer serve a purpose in his life.

“I don’t watch Spain matches,” he told Cadena COPE.

“I take the opportunity to unwind and be with my children and wife.

“I’ll watch the Euros, but I only watched the first half against Chile in the [2014] World Cup.

“I did everything I had to do [for a call-up] and was hurt by not going to Brazil, but now I’m super-happy not to be a part of the national team.

“Ultimately, it was a bit difficult to be with the national team and Real Madrid at the same time.”
