Two months out for Mathieu

Jeremy Mathieu is looking at between six and eight weeks on the sidelines after the Barcelona defender underwent surgery on a knee injury.

The club has confirmed the procedure was a success and the France international will need possibly until the end of May to recover from a torn meniscus.

Mathieu suffered the injury representing France against Russia and may not play again this season, with Euro 2016 also a question mark.

It had been suggested that Mathieu could be back in time for the Copa del Rey Final against Sevilla on May 22 but the timeline given by Barca makes that unlikely.

The Champions League Final is on June 6, while Les Bleus begin their Euro 2016 campaign on June 10 against Romania.
