Gareth Bale not only believes Real Madrid can go to Barcelona and win the season’s final Clasico but a late title challenge is possible too.
Madrid lost the first Clasico of the season 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu and go into Saturday’s fixture 10 points adrift of La Liga leaders Barca.
“I believe that anything is possible in football,” Bale told a Press conference, AS reports.
“I know we’re 10 points behind, but it’s clear that if we win, La Liga is possible.
“We know [winning at Barca] is difficult but we must be 100%. You have to attack them and, if we’re at our best, we’ll win.”
Bale was asked about the two likely attacking units that will start the match, Barca’s MSN of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, and the BBC of Madrid – himself, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“[The MSN] are world class. We know all of them and they know all of us. It’ll be a good match, we’ll try to make it exciting,” the Wales international continued.
“[The BBC] have a good relationship and we play well together. But we’re not the judges. That’s the Press and the fans. Our mission is to make the supporters happy.
“Benzema’s return is great news, because he is a great player. He’s scored a lot of goals. It’s important that he’s back and I hope he plays a lot and scores a lot.”
The game is the first Barca will play since the death of Johan Cruyff, with a number of tributes planned to the Catalans’ former player and Coach.
“Cruyff is a legend for Barcelona and everyone in football respects him as a player and as a person and on Saturday we’ll all honour him,” Bale said of the Dutchman.
