‘Alba can play without a problem’

Jordi Alba is expected to be fine for the Clasico after it was reported the Barcelona defender suffered an ankle injury on Spain duty.

Sport acknowledges the left-back did hurt his ankle in the draw with Romania but wasn’t showing any ill-effects and was fully expected to miss Barca training early this week as all the international players were given time off.

The Catalan publication cites sources in the Spain camp that are quoted as saying it’s true Alba ‘felt some discomfort during the last few minutes in his ankle’ but after being checked by doctors ‘apparently there was nothing serious.’

It’s added by the source that Alba ‘can play against Madrid without problems,’ a state of affairs confirmed to Sport by Alba’s agent, Jose Manuel Tarraga.

Alba is expected to train fully with his Barca teammates on Tuesday.
