Stabbed footballer ‘can play again’

The lower-League player, who was stabbed by an opponent eight days ago, says he has received assurances from doctors that he can play again.

Samuel ‘Samu’ Galan, who plays for Alhaurin de la Torre B in the Andalusian regional Leagues, was stabbed near the heart after his side’s 1-0 defeat at El Palo B on March 20.

However, he was discharged from the Carlos Haya hospital in Malaga on Friday and spoke to local media via Marca in high spirits as “the doctors have told me that I’ll be able to play again”.

Both of the El Palo B players held in custody over the incident are being investigated for attempted murder.
