‘San Jose, Sergi or Koke for Busquets’

Vicente Del Bosque has decided the Spain XI to play Italy but didn’t confirm if Mikel San Jose, Sergi Roberto or Koke would replace Sergio Busquets.

Busquets’ broken finger saw the Barcelona midfielder released from the national team for friendlies with the Azzurri and Romania and Del Bosque was asked who would take his place in the team

“We have good solutions with Sergi, San Jose or Koke, who can play that position,” AS quotes Del Bosque as saying.

“Busquets is gone because he had discomfort. We would have preferred him to stay, but it was felt it wasn’t the most convenient.

“I’ve decided the team. The idea for these two friendlies is to play everyone who is in the squad, if possible.

“Koke? I don’t think he’s stagnated, no. He’s a very important man at Atletico Madrid.”

The friendlies are being played with Euro 2016 in mind and Del Bosque was asked how similar the squad for the double-header will be to the group that goes to France.

“It won’t differ a lot from those who are here,” he confirmed.

“There will be some difference, those who couldn’t come because there are still two months of the season to go.

“We’ll see over time because a lot can happen in two months.”
