Guillermo Ochoa has no problems fighting for his place at Malaga and says he’ll always return to the city after the birth of his second child.
Ochoa moved to La Rosaleda after World Cup 2014, leaving French club Ajaccio, but had to wait until March 2016 for his La Liga bow as Carlos Kameni retained the gloves.
“I had several offers and I was fortunate because I could choose. The situation here was interesting, more so after Willy Caballero left,” the Mexican recalled in an interview with AS.
“I came at the request of the coaching staff and we all know the story.
“The best thing to happen here? The birth of my second child. I’ll remember that for the rest of my life. The attachment will be forever and affection eternal for this wonderful city.
“Even if I’m not here, my son will want to return, no doubt.”
Ochoa was asked to evaluate some of the other goalkeepers in La Liga, as well as Iker Casillas’ fortunes with Porto.
“After he’d won everything it looks to me like he’s enjoying himself and taking advantage of the time he has left,” Ochoa said of the Spain captain.
“I see him smile, not like when he was at Real Madrid. He did very well there, but he ended up being criticised by a lot of people and that would cause you to not enjoy anything.
“Both Barcelona ‘keepers are doing well. They have a lot of quality and they want to play every competition. It shouldn’t be easy. Keylor Navas? He’s a great goalkeeper.”
