Victor hails Depor ‘turning point’

Victor Sanchez believes Deportivo La Coruna’s 2-1 win against Levante on Saturday will prove to be “a turning point” in the club’s season.

Diego Marino’s late own goal ended Depor’s run of 13 games without victory to push them back up into the top half of La Liga, and their Coach made no secret of his relief in seeing the team finally enjoy the rub of the green.

“Before, we were on a run, in which we’d hit the bar and the ball would go out. That’s now changed,” he said after the game.

“They are runs which occur in high-level competitions, but the team’s mindset has always been the same. We’re a team who never give up.

“In the second half, after Rossi’s goal, it demanded a lot of us to find the winner, but we grew into the game and we’re happy to end this run.

“It’s a turning point. The victory gives credence to many of our draws. We’ll continue on this line, trying to build on this win and for it to give us confidence.

“I’m happy and satisfied with the players because they deserved this reward. In other games, it wasn’t the case, but now they’ve got it.”
