‘Casillas signing a fiasco’

Porto President Pinto da Costa reportedly complained to friends that Iker Casillas’ move from Real Madrid has been a ‘fiasco’ for his club.

Casillas left Santiago Bernabeu in summer 2015 and was picked up by the Portuguese giants but El Confidencial reports that da Costa, full of praise in public, was privately critical of the Spain captain.

“Casillas’ signing has been a complete fiasco. Not only has he not met any expectations we had, but he has cost us games, the League and our early elimination from the Champions League,” he is alleged to have said.

“His salary is unaffordable for the club. If he goes to the United States, because I’ve been told he’s wanted by New York City, it would be the best transfer we have done.”
