Sevilla sporting director Monchi confirms Ever Banega’s contract has renewed, but couldn’t say for sure he’d remain at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Banega’s deal was due to expire in the summer but Monchi told Onda Cero he has longer on his terms, an appearance clause having been activated, but Inter remain interested.
“Just like Kevin Gameiro has a contract to 2018, Banega already has a renewal. The player is renewed. From there, you have to understand we’re concerned his performance is suitable,” Monchi said, AS reports.
“I’m encouraged by his performance. His desire to please is why he committed the foul for the second yellow card [against Villarreal].
“There are teams that have a greater economic and social potential to achieve things than us. I understand that at any given time, players want to improve.
“Negotiating with Inter? It’s a difficult subject, as he has a contract with us. He’s renewed but I can’t predict the future.”
