‘Valencia should have 15 points more ’

Gary Neville claims Valencia “would be 15 points better off” if goals from set-pieces were eliminated ahead of Sunday’s derby against Levante in La Liga.

Two defeats in three League games have seen Los Che fall back into the bottom half of the table, but the Coach feels their problems are as simple as tightening up from dead-ball situations in wake of his first Valencian derby.

“If you take away the goals we’ve conceded from set-pieces, we’d be 15 points better off so we need to defend well. It’s our base,” he said at a Press conference.

“I know the rivalry [with Levante]. I came to the match in the first round and remember the tension which was generated.

“[On his arrangements with England for the international break], the agreement we reached is that I’ll go with the national team and return on the morning of the following Wednesday.

“I know it’s not ideal but as there will only be eight [first-team] players staying behind, I feel comfortable.

“It won’t affect our preparation for the match against Las Palmas. It’s not ideal, but we knew it’d be the case from the beginning.”
