Madrid can improve says Keylor

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas feels his team are not at their best right now and there is still room for improvement.

Navas was speaking at an advertising event where he took time to analyse current events at the Santiago Bernabeu as well as his own form.

“We aren’t playing as well as we can and there’s always room for improvement,” maintained the Costa Rican. “My teammates are doing a great job and we give our all, but we can still do more. There’s no such thing as perfection, yet you can always strive towards it through hard work.

“But this is a team game and you can’t do it on your own. If they put me in goal against 11 men then I’d certainly concede a lot. It’s easier with teammates.”

The former stopper also commented on his impressive saves in Madrid’s 2-0 Champions League defeat of Roma on Tuesday and also on the teams still left in the competition.

“My saves were hugely satisfying and we did a great job, so that spurs us on and we are on the right road to achieve big things. I’m grateful to my teammates because they help to make all this possible.

“We respect all the other teams and there are no easy opponents in the quarter-finals. If they are there it’s because they’ve done well to get there. We respect them but we are going to try and win.”

Finally, the 29-year-old spoke of Los Blancos’ fading title ambitions this season.

“We must continue with dignity because we are representing a very important club. We must fight until the end and not give in.

“The way we played in the second half against Celta Vigo is the way to go. It’s going to be difficult to win La Liga but we have to have pride in the shirt we are wearing,” explained Navas, who has been linked with a move to both Liverpool and Arsenal this summer if Madrid revive their interest in David de Gea.
