Sevilla President Jose Castro has refused to discuss the terms of Ever Banega’s contract at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Banega’s future past the end of the season is up in the air with his deal reportedly expiring and Inter repeatedly linked with a swoop for the Argentine.
“We won’t explain Banega’s contract and its provisions. That would give clues to other teams,” Castro said, Estadio Deportivo reports.
“He’s a great player and it won’t be for lack of effort by the club if he doesn’t stay. He’s in an optimal moment and what we want is him focused on the team.
“We have to keep waiting. We’re negotiating. I repeat it won’t be for lack of effort by the club.
“I defend the club and we don’t want to talk about the terms of his contract.”
