Villarreal Coach Marcelino admits the Spain bench would be ‘an honour’ but insists he is happy at El Madrigal.
AS reports an interview with the trainer published in Sportium, with the subject of one day succeeding Vicente Del Bosque among the topics raised.
“I’d love to coach the national team one day. It’s the best any Spanish Coach can hope for,” he replied.
“It would be a great honour but in the short-term I might miss the day-to-day work with a club. I’m passionate about having challenges every week. I enjoy my profession.”
Marcelino added that the Yellow Submarine has the right infrastructure to succeed, particularly with the Champions League in mind.
“The club has put at our disposal everything possible from a structural and human level,” he acknowledged.
“The ideas are always transparent and there is no difference of opinion. There is an extraordinary atmosphere.
“The Champions League is an exciting challenge. It would be wonderful. You have to do things well to get there and this team is.
“Good results come for the unity and high level of the squad. Being so close to the big three is to be proud of, we are very competitive and the team deserves applause.”
