‘Pointing finger won’t help Malaga’

Javi Gracia has warned Malaga that they must only focus on themselves as “pointing the finger isn’t going to make things better”.

The Andalusians travel to Riazor on the back of a four-game winless run, exacerbated by a controversial 2-1 defeat to Valencia midweek, which saw Carlos Kameni possibly impeded by Denis Cheryshev for Los Che’s equaliser, but the Coach made it clear he was in no mood to look back.

“It’s best to focus on ourselves,” he said at a Press conference.

“We must stand firm in our behaviour and be focused on doing our best.

“If we don’t, we’ll become confused and unsettled. It won’t help to make things any better.

“I hope we can finally say we’ve had a good season. I hope to end the season strongly.

“We’ll see tomorrow who gets the win. We need points and results, but the results don’t come alone.

“They come as a result of doing things well and competing well. We haven’t got the results we deserve, but we’ll keep doing things the right way in order to get them.

“Other parties aren’t responsible or accountable for us picking up more points. Pointing the finger isn’t going to make things better.

“Deportivo are going about things in the right way and always involved in the games they play.

“They play well, take the initiative, press high up the pitch, have variety in their set-pieces and are good enough [to get out of their slump].

“A few days ago, we agreed that they were one of the surprise teams of the season.

“They’re finding it harder but not playing any worse. They’re moments which mark the season, but they’ll still have a good season.”
