Castro: Betis performing highly

Ruben Castro believes Real Betis are “playing at a high level” after five games unbeaten and can take a “giant step” towards La Liga safety this weekend.

Castro took this tally for the season in the League to 13 with the opening goal in a 3-0 victory over Espanyol, and the striker [pictured, right] – while playing down his own achievements – was more enthusiastic about his side’s chances against Granada on Sunday.

“In our last two games, we managed two draws which were not worth much,” he said after the game at Cornella-El Prat.

“[On Thursday], we had a difficult match against a direct rival and got three points away from home.

“The team were at a high level, with a very good attitude, and in the end we succeeded.

“The team were always plugged in. We had to look for the victory and couldn’t speculate.

“We took our first two chances and that was important. Now we’re thinking about Sunday, and that’ll also be difficult.

“We’ve gone five games without defeat and to get two wins in a row would mean a giant step towards achieving our objective for the season. We’ll try.

“I’m scoring goals, but they’re also helping the team pick up points, which is the most important thing.

“On a personal level, I’m calm as I have 13 goals. The season I scored my most goals in La Liga, I scored 18, and I’ll try to reach that figure.
