Neville: If we play for 90 minutes…

Gary Neville wants to see Valencia perform for 90 minutes against Malaga as they did for 70 minutes against Athletic Bilbao.

Los Che were level with Los Leones for much of Sunday’s game but managed to concede three goals and lost 3-0 at home, but the Coach was happy with most of the match.

“[Malaga] will be tough. Each ground is difficult. They have an organised game, press well, with two good strikers, attacking well on the wings,” he said, AS reports, of the trip to La Rosaleda.

“We’re aware of their strengths and we’ll annul them if we can. If we play for 90 minutes as we did the first 70 against Athletic, it will be a good game.

“The reaction to Sunday’s loss has to be the game against Malaga. Two teams eager to win will play. Concentration has to be the maximum.

“The people saw we were very good against Athletic. We have to perform and work well.

“We have to improve defensively and keep a clean sheet. That’s not the defence or the goalkeeper but the whole team. 16 League games without a clean sheet isn’t good enough.”

Neville was also asked about a training ground row between Ruben Vezo and Diego Alves after footage appeared online.

“It hasn’t affected the group. That’s why I’m asking for privacy, to avoid sensationalism,” he replied.

“I’ve had more heated discussions with my five-year-old than that. It lasted four or five seconds. These things happen four or five times a week.”
