Neymar Sr: No Barca deal

Neymar Sr insists his son has yet to sign a new contract with Barcelona as “we’ll wait until May or June” but is asking for “calmness”.

ESPN Brasil claimed on Thursday night that Neymar had finally ended speculation about his future by putting pen to paper on a three-year extension during Barca’s Club World Cup campaign in December, but his father made it clear such talk was premature.

“Neymar has two years of his [Barca] contract left. The fans can be calm,” he told Ara.

“We haven’t started talking because we’ve spent too long defending ourselves against accusations which came to us from all angles.

“We’re happy with the club and the club are so with us. We’ll wait until May or June. We have time to talk.

“[Real Madrid] haven’t contacted us. Neymar has lived through speculation since he was 16.

“[On Manchester United’s summer bid], clubs are coming back in with offers, but Barca are preparing to reject them.

“[On Neymar playing at Copa America and the Olympics], Neymar wants to play in every game, but we’ll wait for Dunga to come to Barcelona.

“I’ve heard [Dunga’s] plans in the Press. When he comes over, we’ll talk.

“[On Neymar winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or], the world of football will tell you that Neymar, [Lionel] Messi or [Luis] Suarez will win the next Ballon d’Or.

“He knows his time will come, for now there’s no need to look for it.

“I prefer that he wins the Champions League this year, which is his dream, to winning the Ballon d’Or.”
