Tebas: Madrid can win the League

La Liga President and Real Madrid supporter Javier Tebas believes Los Blancos can catch leaders Barcelona.

Tebas, an admitted Madrid supporter, points out that Madrid have come from further behind to win the title in the past.

“There’s still a lot of games and Barca have some tough games to play,” he said of the Catalans, who lead third-place Madrid by nine points after 25 games, AS reports.

“There’s a lot of the League left. Madrid have already won more than one title from behind.

“Gerard Pique’s tweets? To me, as a Madrid fan, they weren’t offensive. I think there needs to be more humour, and less of a visceral reaction.”

Tebas also discussed the decision to host the Copa del Rey Final at Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon, calling for a more organised schedule for the showpiece.

“It’s a decision of [Barca and Sevilla] to be at the Calderon,” he noted.

“There was a concert at Santiago Bernabeu. What I would like is to thoroughly prepare for the Cup and there be a fixed headquarters for the Final that is known in advance.”
