Galca: Espanyol need 12th man

Constantin Galca has urged Espanyol’s fans to support the team when they host Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga on Saturday.

A run of eight League games without victory, including six defeats in that time, has seen the Catalans fall to 17th in the table, just a point clear of the relegation zone, but the Coach is confident of a positive result, providing a full house is present at Cornella-El Prat.

“It’s an important game for us,” he said at a Press conference.

“The lads are really tuned in, focused and looking forward to the game.

“We deserved to win at Valencia, but it wasn’t to be. We had chances to win.

“It’s important that the stadium is full, so the team can give more. If the fans are with us, it’ll be the key to victory.

“There must be many reasons why we’ve had so many chance but failed to take them.

“Slowly, we’re approaching the two things we look for – conceding less goals and scoring more goals. Our lines are playing closer together.

“[On the return of his usual trident, Marco Asensio, Felipe Caicedo and Gerard Moreno], they’ll surely make a difference on the pitch.

“I’m feeling very well and convinced we’ll pull [this result] off.

“[On muscle injuries], it’s worrying, but they occur because we’re playing with intensity.

“[On Depor’s failure to win in 2016], I don’t know if that gives us an advantage, but we still have to get the three points and we intend to do so.

“[On Victor Sanchez’s fitness], he’s feeling better and looking well, so he’s likely to come in.”
