Camacho to replace Galca?

Espanyol decided against sacking Constantin Galca but are still looking for alternatives, with Jose Antonio Camacho among them.

Galca was on the brink after a 5-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad and Joaquin Caparros was contacted to replace him, but the Espanyol captains stood with the Romanian and the club backed down.

But AS reports Espanyol are still considering a change at some point and might pull the trigger if the team comes away from Valencia this weekend with a bad result.

Caparros is still in the frame but he’s been joined by Camacho, who has emotional support due to his history with Los Periquitos.

Camacho has twice sat on the Espanyol bench, between 1993 and 1996 and again in 1997-98, taking the team to the Primera in his first spell.

A third option is Lluis Planaguma, the B team Coach, considered an unlikely choice not because there’s a doubt over his capacity, but because there’s a desire not to throw him into such a difficult situation.
