‘Pep not a threat to Barca’

Luis Enrique denies Pep Guardiola’s appointment at Manchester City means Barcelona are at risk of losing their star names.

There has been speculation that Guardiola will try to organise a reunion with some of his ex-Barca charges when he replaces Manuel Pellegrini this summer, with Sergio Busquets admitting Guardiola is the only Coach he would leave Camp Nou for.

“It’s a question for Guardiola and for Busquets, not for me,” AS reports Enrique replying when asked by a reporter about the midfielder’s comments, having also issued a firm ‘no’ when asked if Guardiola’s presence was a threat to Barca.

A number of Barca players have though been linked with a move away, reports saying Dani Alves has a big-money offer from China and Marc Bartra wants to leave in the summer to get more playing time.

“We’re not contemplating any exits,” Enrique said when asked if Alves could leave Camp Nou before the Chinese transfer deadline on February 26.

“Bartra? There are always players throughout the season with fewer minutes. That’s the reality. As always, what I do with the players is give them information to improve.”
