‘Neymar won’t leave Barca’

Barcelona Vice-President of institutional relations Carles Vilarrubi expects Neymar to stay at ‘the club of his dreams.’

Neymar’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks as he slowly renegotiates his contract at Camp Nou amid speculation of Manchester United and a court case regarding his 2013 switch to Spain in which he has given evidence.

“They all dream of [Neymar], but the club is very calm,” Vilarrubi is quoted as saying on TV3, according to AS.

“The player is at the team of his dreams and he is delighted. So everybody is happy. He won’t go. Neymar will be here for many years.”

Vilarrubi also touched on the on-going legal action brought by DIS against Neymar, his parents, Santos, Barca and current and former Presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell.

“Justice is slow but we are convinced this issue will be resolved smoothly,” he said.

“Neymar wanted to play for Barca, and this was achieved by Rosell, and for that he has to be recognised.”
