‘Neymar very, very happy at Barca’

Robert Fernandez says Neymar is “very, very, very” happy at Barcelona after Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Levante in La Liga.

An incident broke out between Neymar’s father and a group of journalists during the forward’s birthday celebrations on Friday night, prompting Barca to issue a statement in the player’s defence, and the technical secretary maintained the case was closed.

“Neymar is very, very, very happy at Barcelona and in his surroundings,” he said after the game.

“We’re very comfortable with him. We wanted to make things very clear and position ourselves next to the player and his camp.

“We won’t give any more importance to what happened. We see him to be very happy.

“It was a very valuable result for us in light of everything we’re about to face.

“We have a Coach and a squad of players who won’t let up in the League.

“We’ll have to keep working hard and maintain the intensity with which we’ve been playing. The match wasn’t easy.

“We faced a serious Levante side, who played with great pressure and intensity.

“On the other hand, we came [into the game] on the back of great physical and psychological demands.

“There was a lot of wind, so the ball moved very slowly. It would’ve been better to stay at home.”
