Barcelona say they are “oblivious” to allegations of industrial espionage brought against them and former President Sandro Rosell.
The Spanish Press reported on Friday that communications group Mediapro had taken Barca and Rosell to court, with its owner Jaume Roures accusing the ex-patron of e-mail theft, divulging business secrets and invading his privacy.
A statement on La Blaugrana’s official website reads: “Given the filing of a complaint related to industrial espionage, which the Mediapro Group has submitted to the Courts of Instruction of Barcelona and involves FC Barcelona, the club state that:
“1. FC Barcelona are totally oblivious to the events behind this complaint, which happened between 2009 and 2011, therefore we are immediately requesting all aspects of the case file which relate to the club.
“2. The club demand respect for their former Presidents and the presumption of innocence of two club employees who have been impugned.
“3. FC Barcelona make themselves available to help clarify the facts which have led to the complaint. In addition, the board has commissioned a report on this case to the Directorate General of the Club to find out the real facts.
“4. The club reserve the use of all legal avenues which serve to maintain the prestige and good image of FC Barcelona.”
