Unai Emery has urged “caution” from his Sevilla players, despite Thursday’s 4-0 victory over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
A brace from Kevin Gameiro, sandwiched by strikes from Adil Rami and Michael Krohn-Dehli seemingly fired Los Nervionenses into May’s showpiece, with Barcelona virtually confirmed as their opponents following a devastating win of their own, but the Coach refused to begin celebrating before the second leg.
“We don’t want to spoil the moment as it was a great result, but we must be cautious and build on this [result],” he said after the game.
“There’s another 90 minutes against a Celta side, who scored four against Barcelona at their place.
“We played a complete game in many ways and one which was very uncomfortable for [Celta].
“In this regard, we’ve reinforced our team dynamics and the steps we’ve taken, but we have to maintain and build on these improvements.
“We’re at the beginning of February and it’s a Copa which is very tough and beautiful, but we’re still 90 minutes away [from the final] and we have a lot to do away from home.
“We must look to build on this result, but with prudence and respect because they’ll be at their best.
“[On Barca’s 7-0 win against Valencia], we’ve all played football, myself in La Segunda, and felt complete impotence on the pitch.
“The most important thing is to be able to play against Barcelona, which means you’re [in the final].”
