Eibar won’t pay Baston clause

Eibar have confirmed they won’t pay the fee needed to allow Borja Baston to play against parent club Atletico Madrid this weekend.

Baston, Los Armeros’ top scorer this season with 15 League goals, is on loan from Atletico and was allowed to play the first time the teams met, at Ipurua.

But a clause in his loan deal prevents the striker turning out at Vicente Calderon unless Eibar pay a €150,000 penalty clause, the stipulation only applying to the game in Madrid, not the tie in the Basque Country.
