Banega ‘hasn’t signed anything’

Ever Banega’s agent denies an agreement with Inter and confirms Sevilla have a clause to extend the midfielder’s contract.

It had been reported that Banega was close to signing with the Serie A side but his representative Marcelo Simonian has told ABC Deportes that isn’t the case, and if anything, it’s Sevilla in pole position as Banega’s contract will automatically renew if he plays a certain number of games.

“The first thing I want to say is that [Banega] hasn’t signed anything with anyone,” Simonian insisted.

“There are many, many teams interested. But we haven’t signed with Inter or anyone else. I’d be lying if I said there were a lot of teams to have called, but to have signed something is very different.

“I spoke to Sevilla this week. We agreed to meet in 10 days. I know Ever well and I know how happy he is at Sevilla. He knows what the club has given him and all that is taken into account.

“There is a clause, yes. But it’s one-sided in favour of Sevilla. If he plays a certain number of matches, they can renew. Does the player have nothing to say? It’s in the contract.”
