Cheryshev: Valencia an easy decision

Denis Cheryshev says joining Valencia on loan from Real Madrid was an ‘easy decision’ and ‘a very important opportunity.’

Cheryshev made a late move to Mestalla on the final day of the winter transfer window, signing until the end of the season after a lack of opportunities at Santiago Bernabeu.

“It’s a very important opportunity for me and I hope to live up to this challenge,” he said, Marca reports.

“I’ve come to Valencia especially because of the interest the club has shown in me. The Coach has also shown interest and it’s been a pretty easy decision because this is a great club.

“I come with the maximum hope of helping as much as I can and I will work hard from now on.

“Football is about moments and its true the team is going through a difficult time. I believe with work that Valencia can come out of this difficult situation.

“I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and get to know my teammates. Everything depends on the Coach, that’s his role.”

Cheryshev is eligible to debut for Valencia in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Barcelona, ironically enough as it was his participation in Madrid’s Copa game at Cadiz when he was banned that led to Los Blancos being kicked out of the competition.

“Barcelona are a great opponent, very hard, but Valencia have our weapons and we need to use them,” he said.
