Gameiro ‘very happy’ at Sevilla

Reported Marseille target Kevin Gameiro insists he is “very happy” at Sevilla after another two goals on Saturday against Malaga.

The striker took his tally to five goals in six games courtesy of his brace in Los Nervionenses’ 2-1 victory over their fellow Andalucians, and he is determined to fire his way into the France squad for Euro 2016 as opposed to engineering a move back home.

“Returning to France? Why not, but for now I'm very happy at Sevilla,” he told Canal+.

“I’m taking my chances and I’m happy, but we’ll see.

“I haven’t been in contact with [Marseille]. I only know what I read in the Press.

“I’m in good form, the team are doing well and that helps. For two years, Carlos Bacca was here and it was a delight for the Coach to have two quality strikers because [Bacca] scored a lot of goals and I scored whenever I came off the bench. He left in the summer and I’ve been given this opportunity.

“[On Euro 2016], I’m ambitious, I always want to go higher and my numbers speak for themselves.

“I have still four months to try to find a place in the France team, but I’ll give everything to be a part of it. It’s an objective.

“[Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Paris Saint-Germain] certainly didn’t help me [when I was there], although I experienced good times too.

“PSG are club who meant a lot to me, but I don’t regret anything. You must move forward and set goals for yourself in life, so I went to Sevilla.

“In the life of a footballer, there are moments of difficulty, but you must be able to lift your head and move on.”
