Neville ‘doesn’t have magic wand’

Valencia boss Gary Neville has conceded that “I don’t have a magic wand” after Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

The Englishman remains without a win in La Liga, despite Paco Alcacer’s controversial equaliser at the death after goals from Jozabed and Diego Llorente had put Los Vallecanos ahead, but he nonetheless took positives from the match.

“I find it difficult to explain what happened before half-time, but I got two positive lessons from this encounter: the answer after the break and encouragement and positive spirit of the players,” he said after the game.

“I believe Paco Alcacer’s goal should’ve stood, but this isn’t the time to talk about it and [Paco Jemez] can be disappointed by the result.

“[On Valencia being outplayed again], it’s something that must be corrected immediately so we can play with joy and give satisfaction to our fans.

“I don’t have a magic wand, but I need time because I came here as a result of things not going well.

“Our problems isn’t a lack of effort, but I’ve been clear on what I want from the players and I hope to capture it as soon as possible.”
