Ceballos dropped by Betis

Dani Ceballos has been dropped by Real Betis for Saturday’s trip to Villarreal, with interim boss Juan Merino admitting “negativity” in the dressing room.

The Spain Under-21 starlet, who was linked with Real Madrid before the start of the season, will not be involved at El Madrigal, and the caretaker made it clear the player was not fully committed to the Andalucians’ bid for survival in La Liga.

“If Dani has not been called up then it’s clearly because I’m not happy with his performance,” he said at a Press conference.

“I want 100 percent from all my players. I won’t go into why [Ceballos] isn’t 100%.

“A player must always be prepared and the squad is what it is.

“I haven’t liked the sensations transmitted by the dressing room [this week].

“I’ve seen many negatives, so we must go in search of the best route for Betis and our players.

“There’s plenty of work to be done by [Juan] Merino or whoever the Coach will be.”
