Joaquin would welcome Ramos

Joaquin believes Real Betis would be making a good decision if they hired Juande Ramos to replace Pepe Mel.

Mel was sacked last week and Jose Merino placed in caretaker charge, a situation Marca reports will persist at least until the weekend, but Ramos is mooted as the preferred full-time option.

“I was with him in my first spell and it was a good year. He’s a magnificent Coach,” Joaquin said of Ramos, referencing the 2001-02 season, when Ramos was on the Betis bench.

“Other than that, the squad only thinks about how to reverse our situation.”

Joaquin added that until such time as Merino is relieved of his duties, the players will give their all for him and the club.

“Merino is our Coach and we have confidence and will work for him 100%,” he continued, before going on to praise the former trainer Mel.

“Mel did everything possible for Betis. We appreciate his work and wish him well personally and professionally.”
