Emery: Sympathy for Mel

Sevilla Coach Unai Emery offered sympathy to Pepe Mel, who lost his post as Real Betis trainer over the weekend.

Betis, under the interim leadership of Juan Merino, face a two-goal deficit as they go to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the second leg of the Copa del Rey derby, Emery stressing the need to win any local skirmish.

“We have to set the bar very high because the derby requires you win,” Emery told a pre-match Press conference, Marca reports.

“It’s a derby and we need to continue the 2-0 of the first leg. We have a great responsibility to move to the next round. It’s a game that excites us and we want to do something important in the Cup.

“A Coach being sacked is always unpleasant, so I sympathise with Pepe. But I’m not judging anything.”
