Gracia: Malaga obliged to win

Javi Gracia has informed his Malaga players that “we're obliged to maintain our competitive spirit” ahead of Sunday's trip to Las Palmas in La Liga.

The Andalucians can move into the top half of the table and only three points off a Europa League spot at Gran Canaria with a fifth straight victory, and the Coach has challenged his side to keep their cool.

“We're obliged to maintain our competitive spirit, which has embodied us in recent weeks, in order to get good results,” he said at a Press conference.

“We face opponents who are moving up the table and are very strong at home, so we must be at a very high level in terms of concentration.

“We value each point we earn highly, and that's the only way we can extend this dynamic.

“We must try to take things day by day, pick up as many points as possible and see what happens.

“It doesn't help us at all to look beyond the next game.

“[On signing Chory Castro], it's not easy to sign players in this market, but we've signed a player who understands our language, who isn't injured and knows our League.

“He has all the characteristics and qualities needed to facilitate his arrival, and we see him doing well.

“[On Weligton making his 200th Malaga appearance], he's had an exemplary career and a beloved player for this club.

“It's not easy continuing to meet the demands and competing at this level.”
