Suarez banned for two games

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has been handed a two-match ban for his involvement in the post-Espanyol fracas on Wednesday.

The judge of the Copa del Rey's Competition Committee felt there were enough grounds to punish the Uruguayan, having found him responsible for provoking a clash between the two teams after the final whistle.

Barca ran out 4-1 winners against Espanyol, who had Pape Diop and Hernan Perez sent off and are unable to call upon the pair for next week's second leg as a result.

Suarez, on the other hand, will miss both the trip to Cornella-El Prat and the first game of his side's quarter-final, providing they make it that far.

Barca have since confirmed via their official website that they will appeal the decision.
