Juande Ramos is an option for Real Betis should Pepe Mel leave, either voluntarily or after being dismissed, reports claim.
ABC de Sevilla say Ramos, previously of both Betis and Sevilla, is the preferred candidate should a vacancy arise, with Mel under pressure amid a run of poor results.
That pressure intensified with a Copa del Rey defeat to Sevilla, the report noting that the Betis board were unhappy with Mel’s decision to name a much-changed XI in the tie.
Ramos would command a heftier wage than Mel, however, so negotiations may not run smoothly, and nothing will happen before the weekend’s fixtures.
