Escriba ‘desperate’ for away scalp

Fran Escriba admits Getafe are “desperate” to get their first away win of the season against Sporting Gijon in La Liga on Monday.

El Geta have yet to emerge victorious on the road this term, but the Coach believes his side have a good chance of breaking their duck when they travel to El Molinon.

“[My assistant Josep Alcacer] knows all [of Sporting’s players], beyond our normal study of them,” he said at a Press conference.

“We must work very hard because they’re very difficult to defend against, especially on second plays, where they’re unpredictable. [The game] requires a lot attention and concentration.

“Our League is very even. We are calm and have a good momentum. Sooner or later, we’ll win away.

“It’s clear that we’re desperate to get our first win away from home.

“It will be a close game that, as usual, will be decided by small details.

“Alexis [Ruano] has trained but not with the squad.

“If it were a final then I’d be willing to play him, but for this game we’ve preferred to leave him out.

“[Angel] Lafita’s absence doesn’t worry me too much because I look to the bench and see solutions.”
