LIVEBLOG: Valencia v Real Madrid

Welcome to Football Espana’s live coverage of Valencia vs. Real Madrid as Gary Neville continues to look for his first La Liga victory.

Neville was appointed in early December but thus far has only seen his side beat lower League Barakaldo in the Copa del Rey second leg, drawing with Eibar and Getafe and losing to Villarreal, dropping to 11th in the table.

The former Manchester United defender was also unable to keep Los Che in the Champions League after defeat to Lyon.

Madrid meanwhile ended 2015 with a win over Real Sociedad but are five points from city rivals Atletico Madrid, who top the table after Saturday’s win over Levante and Barcelona’s draw with Espanyol.

Rafa Benitez has come under pressure, his name being booed when announced at Santiago Bernabeu, but no Primera team has scored more than Los Blancos and only Atleti and Barca have conceded fewer goals.

A victory over Valencia would move Madrid level on points with Barca, though the Catalans do still have a game in hand.
