Emery ‘hasn’t asked for Fazio’

Unai Emery denies asking Sevilla to make signings in the January transfer window and prefers to focus on getting his injured players fit.

Sevilla meet Espanyol in their last game of 2015 and with the transfer window days from opening, Emery was asked at a Press conference about possible comings and goings, including ex-Sevilla man Federico Fazio.

“The important thing is to recover [Dani] Carrico, Beto, to have everyone at our disposal,” he stressed, Marca reports.

“We have the squad to do big things. But for what we need, Monchi is working. We know [Federico] Fazio and we know what he can give.

“But I haven’t asked for anyone in particular because I believe there is an important performance in this squad. When we have someone coming, we’ll talk about it.”

If there are arrivals then there’s a chance of departures, Emery admitted, insisting the transfer window was about improving the lot of the club.

“We want the best for Sevilla. We have to be demanding. We look for the maximum performance from what we have,” he continued.

“We should have the conditions so the players like it here, rather than think they might leave. We don’t think about the exit of anyone, although there might be.

“Ciro Immobile? We’ve had several conversations and he is broadly happy. His family is comfortable in Seville, he’s happy with the team and wants to play.”

The visit of Espanyol to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan sees an opponent under new management, with Constantin Galca still settling in, a point raised by Emery.

“Espanyol are at a good moment, with the change of Coach, the great form of Felipe Caicedo, the eruption of Marco Asensio,” Emery noted.

“They are good players capable of doing important things. Above all, we go with the idea of setting our tempo and imposing ourselves.”
