Kranevitter: Atleti is demanding

Mattias Kranevitter has arrived in Spain and insists he is ready to meet the challenge posed by ‘demanding’ Atletico Madrid.

Kranevitter has left River Plate following their Club World Cup campaign, where they lost to Barcelona in the final, to join Los Colchoneros, the transfer delayed from the summer so he could take part in the tournament.

“I’m happy to be here. I came to add to a big team. I’m very grateful they have noticed me,” AS quotes Kranevitter as saying as he landed at Madrid Barajas airport early on Tuesday morning.

“I dream of lifting a trophy, God willing. Atletico made a great effort to bring me here and I did as well.

“Atletico are a big club and I know their significance to Spanish football. I’ll give it my best. Diego Simeone is a winning Coach. I’ve come to a team that demands the maximum because it is a very competitive team and I will sacrifice myself to achieve our objectives.

“I had two great years with River. I wanted to say goodbye with winning the Club World Cup. But I’m satisfied and grateful to River for everything they gave me.

“Now begins a very nice stage, a new challenge and I want to live up to it.”
