Vicente Del Bosque has discussed the Gerard Pique-Alvaro Arbeloa situation and his future as Spain Coach after Euro 2016.
Del Bosque unveiled his new book, Winning and Losing, the Emotional Strength, at an event at the Spanish Football Federation’s headquarters, and took questions from the Press.
“[Pique and Arbeloa] is an old wound that hasn’t healed. You can’t undermine the coexistence of the national team. I don’t see it as a problem. It’s an issue that caught us out,” he replied, Marca reports, when asked about the spat between the Barcelona and Real Madrid defenders.
Del Bosque was also asked about his future and refused to confirm or deny anything past taking La Roja to the tournament in France this summer.
“There’s still six months and that’s a long way ahead. I’m a man of the RFEF and I have to talk to them before making a decision,” he stressed.
“In the last chapter [of his book] I talk about retirement and I think I speak conditionally. We say something like if everything goes to plan, it will be like that.
“I have no fear, only family things, but I have great responsibility in the six months ahead. We’ll do what’s best for the Federation.”
