‘Barca quality unquestionable’

Felipe Scolari offered no complaints after seeing his Guangzhou Evergrande side outclassed by Barcelona in the Club World Cup semi-final.

Barca moved to the final, where they will play River Plate, courtesy of a Luis Suarez hat-trick, the Uruguayan scoring all the goals with ill Lionel Messi and injured Neymar not on the field.

“Being beaten 3-0 by Barca is no different to what happens to other big clubs. I just want to thank my team for what they did,” he said, Marca reports.

“Although Barca played without two of their best players, their style and quality is unquestionable. It’s a school. We knew that. They’ve always been a team I like to watch. I like Barca even though we lost.

“Our strategy was, to an extent, balance, but it’s different against Barca. They’re a fantastic team. We’ve had a wonderful year despite the defeat. A lot of teams lose to Barca and we have to learn from it.

“When Messi doesn’t play you’re hopeful, because he’s the best in the world. But Barca have 25, 26, 27 players of incredible quality.

“We have a good team and we played well, but we’re below the top teams in the world. In five to eight years the level of the Chinese teams will be higher, so we’ll learn.”
