Setien: Las Palmas dominated Betis

Quique Setien claimed Las Palmas’ 1-0 win against Real Betis on Saturday was no more than his side deserved as “we were in absolute control”.

Willian Jose’s last-gasp finish earned all three points for the Canarians, who ended a run of three games without a win, to lift them within a point of safety in La Liga, but the Coach was disappointed his team could not reflect their dominance in the scoreline.

“We were in absolute control, especially in the first 30 minutes,” he said after the game.

“We shouldn’t have waited added time to achieve the victory, but I welcome it regardless.

“Despite our injuries in defence, we still limited Betis’ attacking capability.

“[On his substitutions], [Juan Carlos Valeron] gave us clarity and forward-thinking and Willian Jose scored the winner.

“We still have plenty to consolidate, but there will come a time when we can look to the future with greater optimism.”
