Neville ‘wants more than minimum’

Gary Neville warned Valencia the last 20 minutes of their 1-1 draw with Eibar was the “minimum” of what he expected from his new side.

Neville’s La Liga debut was salvaged by Jaume Domenech’s penalty save and Andre Gomes’ late goal after Sergi Enrich had given Los Armeros an early lead and Lucas Orban was sent off for two bookable offences, but the Englishman was in no mood for celebration after the game.

“It wasn’t a red [on Orban], but we all know how difficult it is for the referee to make decisions,” he said.

“They’re honest people who want to do their best. We’re human beings and we can make mistakes.

“What we saw in the last 20 minutes is the minimum of what we should show each week.

“We wanted to win and the draw isn’t what we wanted, but it’s positive in light of the circumstances were.

“I’ve signed for six months, but I plan everything as if I’m going to be here for four or five years. It’s my way.”
