Del Bosque on Pique-Arbeloa feud

Vicente del Bosque has warned Gerard Pique and Alvaro Arbeloa that “the necessary measures” will be taken when they are next summoned by Spain.

Pique relighted Madrid fires after Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday when he claimed Arbeloa was not his friend and only a ‘cono … cido’ – a play-on-words with ‘acquaintance’ and a derogatory term.

The comment came in response to the Real Madrid right-back’s suggestion that his rival would be involved in the comedy circuit once he retired from football, and Del Bosque vowed to bring an end to the “ructions”.

“It’s not the best thing that there are ructions between [Pique and Arbeloa],” the Coach said after the Euro 2016 draw, which saw Spain paired with Czech Republic, Turkey and Croatia in Group D.

“When the national team had problems in the past, we solved them.

“The national team Coach can’t say anything. [Madrid and Barca] have previous and it’s a problem for them.

“When we next meet up for international duty, we’ll take the necessary measures. I guess we’ll have to talk to them.

"No comment of mine [on what was said] is going to fix anything and I won’t side with anyone. I won’t go into valuations.”
