Depor to offer Victor three years?

Deportivo La Coruna want to tie down Coach Victor Sanchez and will offer a new three-year contract, it’s been reported.

AS say the Galicians are looking to plan for the long-term and with Victor’s deal expiring at the end of the season, confirming his future is high on the agenda.

Victor was appointed towards the end of last season and steered the club to safety, while this campaign has started well with Depor taking 22 points from their first 14 games, climbing to sixth in the table.

It’s felt Victor has a positive influence on the squad and the hierarchy sees him as a trainer who could be involved with the club for the medium and long-term, particularly because he keeps a close eye on the cantera.

The contract offer would be for three years as that is when the mandate of President Tino Fernandez will be up.

Fernandez isn’t sure if he will stand for re-election at that point and doesn’t want his successor to inherit a Coach he might not want.

Victor is understood to be happy at Riazor and no issues are expected to arise in the negotiations, though he could prefer a two-year deal rather than the three being mooted.
