Gary Neville takes Valencia post

England assistant and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has been appointed Valencia Coach for the rest of the season.

Neville joins brother Phil on the staff at Mestalla, Phil having been assistant to Nuno Santo, who resigned on Sunday following defeat to Sevilla.

Former Valencia defender Voro was placed in caretaker charge but Los Che have confirmed the arrival of Gary Neville on a contract until the summer of 2016.

Neville will officially take over on December 6, with his first game as trainer in the Champions League against Lyon. It's understood he will retain his role with England as well.

Valencia owner Peter Lim is also involved with the Neville brothers at non-League Salford City.

“I am excited and proud to have received this huge opportunity with Valencia. It is a huge club of immense prestige and I remember well from my time as a player the passion and loyalty of the fans,” Neville said on the club’s official website.

“I’m looking forward to working with the players. I know it’s a very talented group. I’m excited about the challenge that lies ahead together.”
