Enrique: Messi the best example

Luis Enrique believes “the best players in the world should have Lionel Messi’s mentality” ahead of Barcelona’s match against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

The Argentine marked his return from a two-month injury layoff in the second half of La Blaugrana’s 4-0 Clasico victory over Real Madrid last weekend, before scoring two goals in their 6-1 rout of Roma on Wednesday from the outset.

“I see [Lionel Messi] in a very good way. He still needs more match fitness, but he doesn’t need to be 100 percent to make a difference,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“He now needs minutes to get in the best possible condition.

“[On comparisons with Pep Guardiola], I’m not one to enter comparisons.

“Everyone has an opinion. He was very good for Barca and in context of the club’s history.

“[On Sergio Busquets’ lack of individual awards], it’s surprising because when you have a chance to coach him, you see how great he really is and realise it’s a great injustice.

“[On the MSN’s 121 goals in 2015], they’re the players closest to goal.

“They’re very good but need the whole team behind them. Still, they’re three incredible and unique players.

“[Messi’s generosity] is what makes him great. He has little interest in individual prizes and prefers to win ones with the team.

“His should be the mentality of the best players in the world.

“[On Messi to Manchester City rumours], it’s part of the rumour mill.

“[Luis Suarez] is a guaranteed goalscorer and it’s easy to say what a good signing he’s been.

“He brings many things to the team, both on and off the pitch.”
